Medical University of Lublin

News and Announcements

Dear Students,

We are aware that many of you have been contacting the MUL and HMI offices in regards to the scheduling of the NBME Examinations.

As you know the NBME had recently announced that it has canceled all NBME exams at Prometric centers indefinitely not allowing us to schedule any future exams at Prometric centers. However, being that we have a strict policy that students must first pass the NBME exam to be eligible to take the USMLE Step 1 or Step 2CK examinations, there will be NO waiver allowed for the NBME exam.  The NBME has been a great marker for the University for the past many years especially as we had 100% pass on the Step 1 exam and 94.73% on the step 2CK exam in the year 2019.

The US Government continuously monitors our student and graduate performance on the USMLE exams for the continuance of financial aid (loans) to the majority of our students who rely on it. We cannot take the risk of losing the financial aid program as the majority of the students in the American program partake in it. To protect the student loan program and the future of the students in general especially for residency purposes and number of attempts on the USMLE, the NBME has been the best tool to see if students are actually ready to take the USMLE Exam.

We have decided to continue to provide the NBME exam in Poland to all who are able to take it in Lublin. We have also now arranged for any student or graduate to be able to take the exam at Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York on the 16th of June 2020 and 25th of June 2020 with a limit of 10 persons per session. Other future dates will be announced soon.

We understand that taking the exam at Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center may be cumbersome to some of you. However, please understand that it is a University policy that students and graduates must pass the NBME to be eligible to take the USMLE exam. We made this arrangement to help those of you who really needed to take the exam immediately. This again is a temporary setup until NBME allows us to schedule the examination at Prometric centers which can be any time soon.

Some of you had requested for remote proctoring from home which had been allowed by the NBME recently due to the COVID-19 outbreak. After long conferring and consideration, the MUL and HMI decided not to implement this method yet as NBME does not guarantee any measures for security during the exam. Thus, we decided not to put our student loan program at risk and are awaiting safer solutions.

We suggest that you schedule the NBME exam only if you feel that you are ready to take the actual USMLE exam. If you do not feel comfortable in taking the exam now, then you may postpone your NBME exam date until a Prometric center session is available.

To schedule an exam in Lublin or at Kingsbrook please send us an email request with the NBME registration form to<>. Payments for the exam in the amount of 56,00 USD can be made either to the Deans office via wire transfer and by credit card or check with the HMI office.

Thank you for your understanding and patience while we arranged these new accommodations under such extreme circumstances within a short timeframe and after careful consideration.
